Meet the Staff
Nathaniel Wade, PhD, LPPrimary Investigator Dr. Wade is a licensed psychologist and associate professor of psychology at Iowa State. He has been conducting counseling groups for over 13 years. One of his primary research interests is group counseling, specifically what works to help people deal with psychological concerns, negative life experiences, and past hurts.
Brian Post, MCSResearch Associate Brian is a doctoral candidate in counseling psychology at Iowa State. He has a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in journalism and a Master's in Christian Studies degree from Regent College in Vancouver, B.C. He is currently in his third year at Iowa State. Brian has both clinical and research interests in group counseling, with a research focus on group members beliefs and preferences regarding discussion of religious and spiritual topics.
Marilyn Cornish, BAResearch Associate Marilyn is a doctoral candidate in counseling psychology at Iowa State. She has a bachelor's degree from Wartburg College in psychology and community sociology. She is currently in her second year at Iowa State. Marilyn has both clinical and research interests in group counseling, with a research focus on how therapists approach sensitive topics in group counseling sessions
Undergraduate Research Assistants Our undergraduate research assistants are carefully selected for their professionalism and hard work. They have received training in dealing with personal and sensitive topics and understand the value of confidentiality. They are an important part of our research team.
Group Counselors We also have several different group leaders who facilitate the counseling groups. These leaders are experienced mental health professionals who have all received training in the specific group counseling they provide.
